What's new in October 2011
New TEE Video Loop series: Now available are 117 TEE video loops associated with Cardiac Anesthesia & Transesophageal Echocardiography by Wasnick et al.
New Shared Library Content: A complete Regional Anesthesia sample curriculum for CA-2s is now available in the Shared Library in the Custom Curriculum. Removal of the “Print Chapter” view from all medical Access sites
Last week, only a few days after it had posted to AccessMedicine, the newest version of Harrison’s was discovered circulating on a number of digital lockers, torrent sites, and other means of illicit file sharing. A quick examination of the file revealed that the party (or parties) who had created it simply printed every chapter of Harrison’s, “bound” it as an ebook, and started distributing it. Presently, the “Print Chapter” view makes it far too easy to accomplish a task like this.
To address this issue with digital piracy, we will remove the "Print Chapter” option on all Access medical online products. This is scheduled to be effective Thursday, September 1 on AccessMedicine and then to each subsequent site with its next release. We realize this will not stop piracy dead in its tracks. We do hope, however, that it will make it more difficult for those inclined to illegally redistribute our content, while still making our sites easy to use, as users will still be able to print by section.
If you have questions about this change in functionality, please contact your sales representative at digitalsales@mhedu.com.

Custom Curriculum also available!
AccessAnesthesiology’s Custom Curriculum is a FREE cutting-edge functionality that enables program directors to create, track, and report usage of anesthesiology rotations online. Build a resource that matches your unique needs!
Educators can:
- Create a rotation and topic
- Select reference content, videos, animations and grand rounds from the site
- Assign board review quizzes; customize the number of questions and set the passing grade
- Link out to references or external web-based resources
- Schedule grand rounds, lectures, or other offline activities
- Download usage reports organized by resident or by rotation
Rather than creating rotations from scratch, program directors can modify and adopt a rotation from the Shared Library, and more! Residents can view the available rotations, as well as their own individual progress by rotation.
