The 2003 version of Wheat-Free, Gluten-Free Cookbook for Kids and Busy Adults by celiac-disease authority Connie Sarros has helped thousands of time-stressed adults and parents prepare food for those with celiac disease. Since the first edition published, the gluten-free guidelines new labeling laws have greatly increased the products that are safe for a gluten-free diet. At the same time, interest in this particular eating pattern has grown. Thanks to increased diagnosis and a growing awareness that gluten-free diets have improved other health conditions including autism, this new edition is especially timely.

The second edition of WHEAT-FREE, GLUTEN-FREE COOKBOOK FOR KIDS AND BUSY ADULTS (McGraw-Hill; October 2009) provides, without sacrificing taste or time, recipes for on-the-go adults who need to prepare healthful and nutritional meals for those suffering from celiac disease. Now updated with casein-free options, the book features more than 180 easy-to-prepare new and revised recipes. Because of these changes, the book will also appeal to parents of children with autism and other medical conditions who have found success with a gluten-free, casein-free diet.

The kid-friendly meals are suitable for grown-ups too and run the gamut from simple treats to hearty dishes. Some of the options included are Polka-Dot Rice, Glazed Yams, Cinnamon Rice Meatballs, Bake Chicken Stew, Mississippi Mud Cake, Beefy Bean and Tater Casserole, Strawberry Spinach Salad, Breakfast in A Mug, Finger-Lickin' Great Chicken Nuggets, Spaghetti Pie, No-Cook Applesauce, Chocolate Chip Pie and Dessert Pizza.

The WHEAT-FREE, GLUTEN-FREE COOKBOOK FOR KIDS AND BUSY ADULTS also provides:

• Tips on reading labels to be sure that ingredients are wheat, gluten and casein-free
• Hints on planning and cooking basics meals
• Simple dishes that even kids can make for themselves
• Helpful information for dairy sensitivities
