TEACH YOURSELF FEEDING YOUR TODDLER

Feeding toddlers is challenging but can be fun and rewarding. A parent's behavior can largely determine which way it goes. FEEDING YOUR TODDLER (McGraw-Hill; January 2009; Paperback: $12.95), the latest entry from McGraw-Hill's 70-year-old teach yourself® series, steers parents toward enjoying feeding their toddlers and being confident that they are feeding them well.

Author Judy More, a pediatric dietician and founder of the Child Nutrition consultancy, reminds parents that there isn't only one right way to feed their toddler. The toddler and the family's lifestyle will determine what suits them best. More explains the important factors in successful feeding. She insists that if a parent understands how a toddler learns to like and enjoy the food and meals they give him/her, then working together they will be able to find a way to achieve this.

Feeding Your Toddler offers sample routines, menu plans, and recipes based on what has worked for many other families. The book is for parents of fussy eaters and for all those who would like mealtimes to be fun family occasions. Also included are sections on healthy eating for vegetarian toddlers, food allergies and intolerances, feeding toddlers with diabetes and other long-term illnesses, and dining out. There is also lots of advice on how to manage with parties and "junk" foods.
